My Story

My career began at Shanghai Gongli Hospital in China, where I worked as a public health physician. Not long after I started, I found myself on the front line of the SARS outbreak. That experience was difficult and deeply formative. It also led me to ask an important question: beyond treating individuals directly, could I help more people by building better systems of management and care? That question later led me to pursue an MBA with a focus on hospital management.

It was also during an MBA exchange program that I first came to Canada. That experience introduced me to this country and opened the door to a different professional world in finance, planning, and wealth management. I later made the life-changing decision to immigrate to Canada and began my second professional career here. Over the past nearly fifteen years, I have worked across financial services, compliance, and tax advisory, including roles in anti-money laundering compliance, wealth advisory, tax advisory, and now as the founder of a family office.

My professional training spans three disciplines: medicine, management, and law. Medical training taught me to value diagnosis, prevention, and ongoing risk monitoring. MBA training taught me to focus on system building and resource coordination. Tax law training in law school taught me how to identify structure, boundaries, and testable professional judgment within complex tax rules.

Together, these three areas of training form the foundation of how Boreal Family Office works. At Boreal, we are rarely dealing with a single isolated issue. Tax, investment, trusts, corporate structures, cross-border residency, and succession planning are often deeply connected. The real challenge is not to find a standardized solution template, but to understand how these systems interact with one another and how to keep them consistent, effective, explainable, and sustainable as policies, family circumstances, asset profiles, and markets change.

From hospital care to family office advisory, I have always believed the same thing: real professionalism is not only about solving the immediate problem. It is about building a system that helps people navigate uncertainty.

At Boreal Family Office, we are here to help clients and families see complex issues clearly, make important decisions carefully, and preserve their time and energy for the people and matters that truly matter.
